Introduction - Culturally Responsive and Trauma Informed Intervention
Number of Professional Development Hours: 1.5
Effective interventions promoting health equity must be culturally responsive and trauma informed. Although there is a long history of interventions addressing the psychological effects of trauma such as anxiety, depression, shame, and self-doubt, as well as interventions that focus on building trusting relationships as a bridge to building stronger connections, relatively few interventions have specifically addressed communication, language, and literacy. Module 7: Culturally Responsive and Trauma Informed Intervention will include a review of the most current research-based interventions supporting communication, language, and literacy. Participants will have an opportunity to apply culturally responsive and trauma informed principles to intervention plans for case studies.
Learning Objectives: At the end of Module 7: Culturally Responsive and Trauma Informed Intervention, participants will be able to:
Discuss a range of interventions through the prism of culturally responsive and trauma informed principles
Apply culturally responsive and trauma informed interventions to case studies
Create culturally responsive and trauma informed intervention processes for your own discipline and work setting
